Membership of the School of the Golden Rosicross

We offer free membership to anyone who recognizes something essential in our teachings and wishes to explore them more deeply. Membership is a way to participate in the activities of the school that go deeper than our public meetings. You can follow these activities at your own pace and in your own way.

If you are interested, but rather new to our activities, then we recommend you to look at our core teaching that can be found here. Most of our meetings revolve around the principles that are discussed there.

As a member, you are invited to engage with our work through member meetings, services, conferences, where our teachings are explored in greater depth and connected to daily life.

Membership also makes it possible to take part in international gatherings and to visit conference centres and temples in different parts of the world, offering a broader perspective on the shared work.

Membership is non-binding and carries no obligation; you are free to step back at any time.

Activities are offered in English, but as well as in Norwegian and Swedish. If you would like more information or have questions then you are welcome to contact us.

Can you tell with a couple of words what it is that inspires you?

The History of the School of the Golden Rosycross

The School of the Golden Rosycross, also known as the Lectorium Rosicrucianum, is a modern spiritual movement rooted in the ancient Western Mystery Tradition. It was founded in the Netherlands in the 20th century as a renewal of the authentic Rosicrucian impulse, one that seeks to awaken the divine spark within each human being.

Origins and Founders

The School was established in 1924 by three Dutch mystics: Jan van Rijckenborgh (1896–1968), Zwier Willem Leene (1892–1938), and later joined by Catharose de Petri (1902–1990). Initially involved with the Dutch Rosicrucian movement linked to Max Heindel, they soon felt called to build a new foundation, one that would focus more deeply on inner transformation rather than philosophical knowledge alone.

Their work took inspiration from:

  • The original Rosicrucian manifestos of the early 17th century

  • The Cathars of southern France

  • Hermeticism, Gnostic Christianity, and alchemical symbolism

This synthesis of esoteric Christianity and Gnostic insight formed the heart of what became the Lectorium Rosicrucianum.

A Path of Transfiguration

The School teaches a path of transfiguration, which is a spiritual process whereby the earthly human being is gradually transformed through the awakening of the divine spark within. This path does not belong to any one religion or doctrine but speaks to a universal truth: that the human being is a dual entity, and that liberation comes through inner rebirth.

Our teachings emphasize:

  • The death of the ego-self and the awakening of the inner Christ-being

  • Living ethically and consciously in daily life

  • Serving others and the world in silence and humility

  • Direct inner experience over external authority

Global Expansion and Nordic Mission

Over the decades, the School expanded globally. Centers and spiritual communities were established throughout Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Also in the Nordic countries, the School found fertile ground among spiritually inclined individuals seeking depth, clarity, and inner renewal.

Today, the Lectorium Rosicrucianum continues to operate worldwide under the name School of the Golden Rosycross, maintaining its original mission: to guide sincere seekers toward inner transformation and unity with the divine source.
